Current situation

As of today, May 6, Nova Scotia has 998 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in people ranging in age from under 10 to over 90. Five individuals are currently in hospital, two of those in ICU, and 661 individuals have recovered. There have been 31,541 negative test results. Testing numbers are updated daily at https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus.

Statistics Canada wants to hear about your mental health and well-being

Statistics Canada is collecting data on the impacts of COVID-19 on Canadians’ mental health and well-being. True North Psychological Services is offering a complimentary initial online session for healthcare workers across Nova Scotia. REMINDER: NS COMPASS expanding to Central Zone

Just a reminder that the NS COMPASS service is expanding to NSHA staff working in Central Zone as of today, May 6. The service, which stands for the Nova Scotia COVID-19 Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Service, provides evidence-based specialized mental health care to NSHA health care staff experiencing difficulties related to the COVID-19 crisis (e.g., burnout, anxiety, depressive, post-traumatic, or acute stress-related symptoms). NS COMPASS is also available to staff in Northern Zone and will expand to staff in Eastern and Western zones as of May 13. To access the service, NSHA staff can email @email and provide their name, the zone in which they work, and how and when it is best to contact them. They will be contacted by the end of the next business day to schedule an appointment.

Guide for employees deployed outside of NSHA 
NSHA appreciates the efforts of all healthcare workers (HCW), especially those deployed to facilities outside of NSHA. Read full message. People Services has developed a one-page Guide for Employees Deployed Outside of NSHA that includes key points and addresses some questions you may have. View guide. People Services encourages you to continue to link with your manager to ask questions about redeployment and working at a facility outside of NSHA so you can be better prepared should you be required to help at a facility outside NSHA.
